The Red Apple is an obvious reference to another metropolis, the Big Apple, New York City. But the name also refers to the first function of this site since it was here that flat-bottomed boats moored and unloaded their cargo of apples to be sold in nearby markets. And we also have a hunch that this stunning piece of architecture will soon be the apple of Rotterdam’s eye.
